NAMMO Shock Tube System

Flexible, safe and reliable: NAMMO’s non-electric Shock Tube System includes two different systems in different lengths. The starter system features an included disposable trigger, ignition hose, and crimped-on waterproof detonator. The starter system is a stand-alone system.
The detonator system, on the other hand, has only an ignition tube and a crimped-on, waterproof detonator. The second end of the ignition hose is sealed. The system serves as a drain or branch line.

Structure and mode of action

The outer shell of the Shock Tube System consists of a three-layer tube. The innermost layer is vaporized with explosive and aluminum (HMX/Al). The middle layer prevents the coating from being damaged with explosives during use. The outermost layer has high abrasion resistance, UV resistance and thus protects against damage caused by environmental influences.
The starter system is ignited by the supplied trigger. This is an impact initiation that transmits the ignition signal to the hose. The detonated explosive within the hose detonates at a velocity of approximately 2000 m/s and initiates the detonator. The hose of the system is not destroyed by the ignition transfer.

  • The Shock Tube consists of a three-layer plastic tube. The inner part of the hose is hollow and vaporized with explosive and aluminum powder (HMX/Al).
  • The outer part is UV protected. Even with prolonged exposure to sunlight, the ability to initiate is not lost.
  • The plastic connection unit is used to connect up to eight interconnected Shock Tubes (Detonator system).
  • The overall system provides a high level of safety against environmental disturbances caused by electrical influences.
  • The detonator consists of an aluminum case filled with approx. 0.8 g of explosive. The detonator has a deceleration of 25 m/s, the nominal velocity of the detonation front is 2000 m/s.

The Shock Tube System can be easily configured to suit a wide variety of applications and locations. Shock Tube starters are available in lengths from 10 m to 320 m and can be combined with detonator systems of different lengths.
