Reliable substance identification

The Itemiser® 5X is the latest and most advanced explosive and drug trace detection device in Rapiscan Systems’ established Itemiser family. It can detect a wide range of narcotics and explosives in the nanogram range. Ionization is achieved using UV radiation (non-radioactive) and is not subject to any regulatory restrictions.

Substances are identified by comparing the measured values with optimized, integrated detection libraries and advanced software algorithms. Areas of application are passenger, personnel and cargo/goods checks.

The Itemiser® 5X is approved by the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) for screening passengers, personnel, and cargo. It is also listed and certified in Annex R3 as approved security equipment pursuant to Section 10a of the German Aviation Security Act (LuftSiG) for the areas of responsibility specified in Sections 5 and 8 of the LuftSiG. Furthermore, the device meets the requirements of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and is listed as an approved technology on the Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL).

Rapiscan Systems offers a special sampling rod for the Itemiser® 5X. This innovative extendable rod acts as an extension of the operator’s arm and prevents direct contact with the sampling strip or the object’s surface. It also helps maintain a safe distance from the person being screened. An easy-to-use counter reliably records the number of screenings performed.
