With its CQL family of Raman spectrometers, Rigaku offers border security, law enforcement, and military agencies an advanced, non-contact analytical method for identifying potential threats posed by explosives, toxic industrial chemicals, chemical warfare agents (CWAs), drugs, and more. Users can access on-board libraries of varying sizes containing Raman-active chemicals and expect reliable results in less than a minute. Residues can be detected in mixtures, and substances can be identified through colored transparent packaging. Energy-absorbing dark substances (such as black powder) are safely analyzed inQuickDetect™ mode.
Raman analysis with 1064 nm
Raman excitation using a 1064-nm laser eliminates fluorescence interference common to 785-nm systems. This ensures a meaningful spectral resolution that produces reliable measurement results at a new level.
Advanced substance identification
Based on the proven ResQ CQL platform, Rigaku offers users optimized instrument versions with an updated, intuitive user interface. Improved algorithms, combined with an integrated “recipe database,” expand the functionality of the Raman spectrometer.

Different databases for different device versions
While the standard database of the cost-effective CQL Narc-ID analyzer enables the detection of approximately 1,000 substances in the narcotics category, the CQL Gen-ID already allows for the identification of 4,000 substances—including drugs, explosives, and household chemicals. The Rigaku CQL MAX-ID features the most comprehensive database, containing more than 13,000 substances. Explosives, chemical warfare agents (CWAs), hazardous chemicals, narcotics, cutting agents, pesticides, steroids—whether in powders, gels, mixtures, or liquids—the CQL MAX-ID identifies a wide variety of chemical compounds.
